    The above pictures are from a photo shoot conducted prior to the filming of the second-season Voyage episode The Phantom Strikes .  Shots from a series like this were sometimes used for publicity and to check makeup.  They could also reveal the effects of lighting on the particular actor's face, and as such, were potentially helpful to the director.
